Knights News · Message From Durham Public Schools

Good evening, Durham Public Schools families. We know that this has been a challenging time for you and especially our students. We wanted to provide a quick update about teaching and learning while we are all staying and working at home to contain the spread of COVID-19. We are starting a new phase of our “Ignite at Home” learning program, with new instructional material available online and available for pickup at your child’s school next Tuesday, April 7, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 4 to 6 p.m.

We’re especially concerned with supporting our graduating seniors, and giving ALL of our students additional time to make up work. Students may make up & re-do any previously assigned work until April 17. The goal is to allow students to improve their grades. Teachers will have office hours every day and will be available for calls, emails, or video chat to answer questions and encourage our students. We are working to provide new learning and helpful feedback for your students, while understanding the challenges our families face. We mean to support our students.

We are continually updating our parent/guardian curriculum resource webpage, which you may find on your school website’s front page and coming soon to a new website, ignite.dpsnc.net. That’s ignite.dpsnc.net. Thank you, as we continue to ignite the limitless potential of Durham’s children.
